A Fireplace facelift!

Fireplace with a Facelift!

It's not always possible to find the perfect piece for a room when you are looking for something unique that works with your decor, is within budget and happens to be available when you want or need it..like say, now!

We can spend years with a piece of furniture that is 'standing in' for the 'real' piece we will find one day. There is a solution and all it really calls for is some creative thinking.

Let's take the fireplace pictured above for example. In its original state right out of the box it's a nice enough fireplace but it looks like every other fireplace on the market today. Let's face it, there is virtually nothing exciting or interesting about this fireplace. One thing it is..it's very large. So, this means it will by default end up as a feature in the room where it is placed.

If you look carefully you can see there are some great lines on this piece that are just screaming to be given some character. I set about this 'reimagine' project with a vision in mind and set to taking it apart knowing when it went back together, it would be spectacular.

When you start to look at pieces in terms of their potential and not what they currently are, you can quickly see how your dream room can come together relatively easily. Often you can find these pieces for sale privately at terrific bargains!

So, this fireplace went from being an every day, nothing special, re-sale reject to a reimagined feature piece worthy of its stately position in a living room.

Finished and ready for reassembly.

(Pictured right is the finished fireplace ready to be assembled again.)

This particular piece was made to look aged and weathered but it could just as easily have maintained its more contemporary look with a vibrant colour and clear wax finish. Any way you choose, you end up with a piece that is completely unique. Who wants to spend a bunch of money on something you can just as easily find in your neighbour's home? Unless you like cookie cutter decor..but I believe most of us would like to make our own distinct statement in our homes.

So, hopefully this post has your creativity on overdrive! If you have a piece you would like reimagined, send me an email with a couple photos and I will send you a free quote. On the other hand, if you are still looking for that special piece, send me the details and I will keep my eyes open for you.

Have you heard? I am also booking a limited number of kitchen 'reimagines' this year so if you would like to discuss your one-of-a-kind kitchen cabinet reimagine please get in touch soonest!
